In keeping with a Day of the Dead-related theme, in this meeting we wish to recognize our Álamos friends, now passed away, who have had a great impact on our lives. The famous Zimmermann telegram and how its effect on the United States, Mexico, and World War I
Mexico remained neutral during World War I, but Errol Zimmerman will discuss the background and aftermath of the Zimmermann Telegram, a secret diplomatic communication issued from the German Foreign Office in January, 1917, that proposed a military alliance between Germany and Mexico if the United States entered World War I. There is a Sonora twist to this story, and in recognition of Armistice Day (now Veteran’s Day) we will analyze this important communique.

The Álamos Mint

Barbara will discuss the project’s inception, we will view portions of the the video program, and Stephanie Meyer will outline changes in the Álamos environment during the years since the program was aired.
